Did you know that more than one in three students find their first job by using their network*, whether it is personal, professional or developed at Sciences Po? Sciences Po Carrières offers three workshops for mastering the tools that will help you enhance your networking circles and derive the most opportunities from them:

Effective networking (French/English)

Does the word "network" evoke any of the following responses for you?
"I don't have a network / I know it's important but I don't know how to do it / I don't dare ask / I don't know how to identify the people who are interesting to me, or how to reach them / what can I offer my network? / how do I maintain my network?" etc.

The "Effective networking" workshop will help you assess your existing network and learn how to activate it and develop it for your professional advancement.

  • Length: 2 hours
  • Prerequisite: have a defined employment goal (connection to your professional aims)

ELEVATOR PITCH (FRENCH-ENGLISH)

Are you thinking of attending a trade forum or reception as part of your search for an internship or a job? Do you want to prepare for a job interview and the traditional request to "tell me about yourself"? Are you seeking partners for a project?

In all these situations, a "two-minute introduction" or elevator pitch is a crucial exercise, and one that requires practice. Your starting "hook" and the quality and clarity of the message you present will give the listener a first impression that is either positive or negative. Skilfully executing this pitch is essential to your interview and may determine its overall success. Done well, it might bring you even further!

Using exercises and simulations, the "Elevator pitch" workshop will help you better understand the importance of non-verbal communication and learn to adapt your pitch to the time available and the purpose of the interview. The following aspects in particular will be addressed:
-> How to prepare in advance and what to say
-> How to identify your listener's position
-> How to create a common language with your listener

  • Length: 2 hours
  • Required materials: CV
